With a political-cultural activity, after the winter holidays took place at School #52, José Martí, in Ulaanbaatar, the tribute for the 171st Anniversary of the birth of the National Hero of Cuba.
The event was chaired by the Ambassador of Cuba in Mongolia, Jorge Ferrer and the Director of the school, Mrs. Tserenkhand Lumben, who delivered the central statements.
In the activity, a large group of students, led by three Mongolian-Cuban students, sang songs in Spanish in tribute to our National Hero
The Ambassador stressed that one of Martí's merits, which makes his life and his work immortal and universal, is that his words transcend his time and borders. Today, more than a century later, they are as valid, as then, for any country in the world.
He added that in The Golden Age, the magazine written by Martí for girls and boys, its author promoted a new social relationship based on study, industriousness, own merit, respect for others and not on material wealth, but in the richness of the spirit.
The Director of the center highlighted the honor of that institution to bear Martí's name and recalled that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the school being named in his memory. Very few schools in this country are named after national or foreign personalities.
The Cuban Ambassador also laid a flowers wreath at Martí's bust in the school theater.
