2020 Cuban embassy attack continues without U.S. condemnation.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, denounced today that four years have passed since the attack on the Cuban embassy in Washington, without the US government declaring the act as terrorist.

The foreign minister pointed out on the social network X that during this period the perpetrator of the acts was not condemned either and warned that impunity encourages crime.

On April 30, 2020, in the early hours of the morning, the Cuban citizen Alexander Allazo fired 32 projectiles from a semi-automatic rifle against the diplomatic headquarters, endangering the lives of 10 officials who were in the building.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident and it only caused material damage to the building, however, the White House opted for silence instead of rejecting the incident, which was considered serious by the Antillean country.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs himself stated on that occasion that the attitude of the U.S. administration made them accomplices in the event.

On September 24, 2023, the Cuban embassy in Washington suffered a second terrorist attack, when an individual threw from the sidewalk two Molotov cocktails on the perimeter fence of the facility, which hit the front wall of the diplomatic mission.

The attack did not cause any damage to the personnel at the embassy and at the request of the Cuban diplomatic mission, officers of the U.S. Secret Service went to the embassy and had access to its facilities to verify the violent action perpetrated.

According to official data, at least 581 acts of State terrorism have been perpetrated against Cuban diplomatic representations since the triumph of the Revolution in January 1959.
