Belmopan, 15 of July, 2022.- On July 15, 1995, the governments of Cuba and Belize signed the establishment of diplomatic relations, thus marking a historic moment in the strengthening of the bonds of friendship and cooperation between our governments and peoples.
Cuban collaborators in the spheres of health, sports and culture have provided their services in this nation, which with infinite humanism and sense of solidarity have offered their knowledge to improve the lives of Belizean citizens.
Hundreds of young Belizeans have been trained as professionals in Cuba and have had the opportunity to know the Cuban people and share with them as part of our Caribbean family, this is also an example of the solidarity of the Cuban Revolution promoted from its beginning by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
We always has received the solidarity and friendship of the people and government of Belize, we cannot forget that in the face of the complex situation of shortages that our country faced due to the economic measures imposed from abroad during the most difficult moments of the Covid-19 pandemic, the government of Belize sent supplies to alleviate our situation, this altruistic gesture we will never forget.
During the Official Visit to Cuba, on April 27, 2022, Prime Minister John Briceño and President Miguel Díaz-Canel signed a Joint Communiqué expressing the will of Cuba and Belize to continue strengthening their bilateral ties.
Both heads of government attended the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Collaboration on Climate Change and a Cooperation Agreement on Health, signed by the respective ministers.
Prime Minister John Briceño reiterated Belize’s unwavering support for the call to immediately end the illegal and unjust economic and financial blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States of America.
Today we celebrate the 27th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Cuba and Belize, we celebrate our friendship and collaboration as an example of what brotherly peoples can achieve when they respect and complement each other.
