You will be protagonists of the battle of Cuban diplomacy in the very difficult times that Cuba and the world are experiencing today, said the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, at the swearing-in ceremony of the new heads of mission appointed in the foreign service.
Twenty-seven ambassadors of Cuban skin (black, white, mulatto —some with indelible Asian features—), solemnly swore their loyalty to the homeland and the Revolution, “deeply proud of the trust placed in them as representatives of Cuban diplomacy ”, as pointed out by the new ambassador Yanet Stable Cárdenas, who read the oath after each of her colleagues signed it.
Held in the iconic Portocarrero room of the Palace of the Revolution, the solemn act was also headed by Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of People's Power; Manuel Marrero Cruz, head of the Government of the Republic, and Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Relations, all members of the Political Bureau, in addition to other leaders of the State, the Government and members of the board of directors of the Minrex.
The President of the Republic highlighted the role that the new diplomats appointed at the head of more than twenty missions must play, in the political, economic and friendship and collaboration order in the nations in which they will represent Cuba.
“I ask that you be consistent with those convictions, with those principles and that we defend them. We are sure that you are going to be very brave combatants, very active combatants, very worthy combatants in those trenches and in those battles”.
Díaz-Canel dedicated a special moment to the friendship and solidarity movements in the world and to the members of the Cuban community residing abroad. We are very impressed, every time we visit a country, he reflected, "how people from different latitudes of the world have made collaboration, solidarity, and friendship with Cuba the center of their lives."
In the closing speech of the oath, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla expressed that the new heads of diplomatic missions assume such a sacred commitment to "represent the homeland, the noble and self-sacrificing Cuban people, the values on which our Revolution rests socialist and the cause for which several generations of compatriots have sacrificed themselves at the price of their own lives”.
After underlining the legacy of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in the diplomacy of the Cuban Revolution, Rodríguez Parrilla stressed that the "Cuban diplomat, and especially the head of mission, carries out on his men a dignified and complex task, which may go through difficult times. It is, at the same time, edifying and exalting, of which they can always feel proud”.
"Be you," said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, "modest and effective representatives of the people, committed to firmly established values, bearers and proud executors of Cuban revolutionary diplomacy, with its long service record, its unwavering trajectory, and its socialist foundations. , anti-imperialist and supportive”.
