(Doha, august 12, 2026) The Embassy of Cuba in Qatar is pleased to present the third edition of its newsletter, offering a concise look at the events, developments and stories that have marked Cuba's engagement with Qatar and the wider international community in recent months.
This edition opens with a tribute to His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, recalling his historic friendship with Cuba and the legacy he helped build between the two countries. It also covers Cuba's solidarity with Qatar following the tragic accident in Ras Laffan and highlights key moments in bilateral relations.
The newsletter then examines the new escalation of U.S. pressure against Cuba, its growing human cost and the international response. It features the concerns raised by UN human rights experts, the visit of Independent Expert George Katrougalos, coverage from Al Jazeera Arabic, and other expressions of international solidarity. The edition also presents Cuba's ongoing economic transformations and the 176 measures approved by the National Assembly as part of the country's own process of adapting its economic model.
The final section highlights Cuba in action: its solidarity and humanitarian response in Venezuela following the earthquakes, its achievements at the Doha Diamond League, and its participation in the Central American and Caribbean Games.
We invite you to read the full edition and discover the stories, facts and perspectives behind these developments.
