Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. May 21, 2020. - A garden of 60 trees named “Garden of Friendship” was planted at Ulaanbaatar National Park in commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Mongolia. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Mr. D. Tsogtbaatar, the Cuban Ambassador to Mongolia, H.E. Mr. Raúl Delgado Concepción, the Vice Mayor of the city Mrs. D. Munkhjargal, the President of the Association of Friendship Mongolia - Cuba Mr. Khamba Lama Dr. Ch. Dambajav, and the President Association of Mongolian Graduates in Cuba Mr. G. Ganbayar.
With the planting of 60 trees (elms), the same number of years that are commemorated since the signing on December 7, 1960 of diplomatic relations between the two nations, both the Mongolian Chancellor and the Cuban Ambassador highlighted in their words the close ties of friendship, solidarity and respect that have prevailed during all this time. Minister D.Tsogtbaatar pointed out in his speech that the friendship that began 60 years ago has been strengthened and thanked the organizations and groups that contributed to the materialization of the planting of these trees as a sign of that friendship.
For his part, the Cuban Ambassador referred in his words to the recent 125th Anniversary of the fall in combat of our National Hero José Martí when pointing out that the sphere of education has been one of the most benefited in this 60-year relationship between both nations . The Cuban diplomat quoted in his words fragments of the work published by the apostle in 1878 in Guatemala entitled "The XIX century" warning about the importance of the education of children and young people, and in this sense in his literary resources he uses trees in particular: “[…] To know how to read is to know how to walk. Knowing how to write is knowing how to ascend. Feet, arms, wings, all these put to man those first very humble school books. […] Education is like a tree: a seed is sown and it opens into many branches. Be the gratitude of the people who educate themselves as a protector tree, in the storms and rains, of the men who do them so much good today. Men will pick whoever sows schools, ”the Ambassador concluded.
The Vice Mayor of the city, Mrs. D. Munkhjargal, who is also Head of Environmental Affairs and Pollution projects in the capital, highlighted the participation of a representation of the more than 180 Mongolian graduates in Cuba, organized in the Association that It bears this name and which has been developing meritorious work in the area of environmental care in the city.
