Ahmadinejad signed the book of condolences for Fidel’s death

Former President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, visited the Cuban Residence in Tehran to express his heartfelt condolences for the recent death of Cuban Revolution’s leader, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, with whom he had the opportunity to meet for the last time in 2012, on the occasion of his official visit to Havana.

 

Ahmadinejad was received by Ambassador Vladimir Gonzalez Quesada, who thanked him on behalf of his people and government for the gesture of visiting the diplomatic headquarters to express regret for the physical departure of the Commander in Chief. He added that his presence is in addition to several government officials and representatives of different sectors of Iranian society, who have also wanted to express their sadness, solidarity and support in this painful and difficult moment.

 

The former president requested to convey his deepest condolences to the Cuban people and government, particularly to Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, and when highlighting Fidel's merits, he said that Fidel was a leader of universal stature, whose ideas will prevail in history because with his life and work he defended not only political principles, but also humanist values.

 

When he was invited by the Ambassador to sign the book of condolences, Ahmadinejad stated that in order to pay homage to a man like Fidel, he should write down a long text as the extraordinary and memorable speeches of the undisputed leader of the Cuban Revolution were.
