Roseau, November 11, 2019. The Ambassador of Cuba in Dominica, Ulises Arranz Fernández, held a meeting with the members of the UNECA Builders Brigade who are working in Dominica, this Saturday, November 9, 2019. The brigade is composed of 14 workers belonging to the company UNECA SA (Union of Caribbean Construction Companies), which has signed an agreement with the company SOTRADOM, to participate in the construction of civil works and infrastructure in Dominica. In the meeting also were present Miriam Martín Posada, Consul of Cuba, Raidel Barceló, head of the brigade, Shininco Kale and Vijay Punjabi, legal representative and head of the asphalt plant respectively; both executives of the SOTRADOM Company.
The Ambassador offered information on the situation in Cuba and the main events that have occurred so far this year. He also referred to the international situation in Latin America and the Caribbean and to the most recent victory in the UN for the support of the Cuban Resolution that demands the end of the blockade, reaching 187 votes in favor of the Resolution and 2 abstentions. Only three countries voted against: USA, Israel and Brazil. Everyone present condemned the blockade and thanked the condemnation position of the vast majority of governments around the world.
At the end of the meeting, there was an exchange of information about the work done by the builders and the conditions of life and work in which they carry out their work. The Ambassador congratulated them for the results of their work, which was recognized by the directors of the SOTRADOM Company present at the meeting, to who also thanked the attention given by them to the builders.
