Tehran, October 28, 2020. The Ambassador of Cuba to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Alexis Bandrich Vega held a meeting at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with Dr. Zahra Ershadi, Director General for Human Rights and Women. Dr. Ershadi expressed praiseworthy words and congratulations to the people and government of Cuba on the occasion of the fifth election of our country as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
Both parties highlighted the good state of bilateral relations as well as their coincidence and mutual support in the multilateral sphere. Cuba and Iran face daily the application of criminal sanctions by the United States government, which have had their maximum expression in times of fighting the pandemic, hindering and preventing the arrival of aid, supplies and vital medicines for health and survival of our peoples. Our governments denounce the implementation of these sanctions as one of the most flagrant violations of human rights as well as the use of this issue in a politicized and selective manner.
