Dublin, May 2018. The Cuban Ambassador in Ireland, Hugo Rene Ramos Milanes, held a meeting with the Executive of the Global Solidarity Forum, belonging to the SIPTU Union, headed by Padraig Peyton, honorary president and Ethel Buckley, deputy secretary general. Both parties exchanged about the celebration of International Workers' Day in their respective countries. The Cuban diplomat had the opportunity to update the members of the executive of the "Global Solidarity Forum" about the events in Cuba, including the process of updating the economic and social model and the recent elections to the Municipal and National Assemblies, its new composition and the election of the new President of the Council of State and Ministers.
Ramos Milanes referred to the new measures adopted by the Trump Administration to reinforce the criminal economic blockade imposed against the Cuban people for nearly six decades. The exchange was also extended in the analysis of the situation in Latin America, particularly in the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, victim of a permanent destabilization action.
SIPTU's "Global Solidarity Forum" ratified its solidarity with the Cuban people and the effort to end the economic blockade, as well as the construction of new bilateral cooperation relations.
