The ambassador of Cuba in Mongolia. Jorge Ferrer made a presentation at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry about trade and investment opportunities between both countries. About 35 businessmen and media attended.
The Deputy Chief Executive of the Chamber, Mr. Magnaibaatar, delivered the opening remarks. The Mongolian National Radio and the Tenger and Malchin television networks covered the event and conducted interviews with the Ambassador.
The diplomat presented Cuba's export offer, the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM) and the portfolio of investment opportunities, particularly in agriculture, livestock, food industry, mining and biotechnology.
He highlighted the potential for complementarity between both countries in agriculture, livestock, food industry and Cuban biotechnology for human and animal health and for organic and non-polluting agriculture.
In that sense, he referred to Cuban vaccines and other specific biopharmaceuticals for the treatment of existing diseases in Mongolia such as Hepatitis B, lung cancer, Haemophilus influenzae type b, leptospirosis, meningococcus, pneumococcus and burns.
He also mentioned STABILAK, a natural product to preserve raw milk for up to 36 hours and at temperatures up to 34 degrees, and the tick vaccine GAVAC. For the latter, a trial is required to evaluate whether it is effective against the tick species that exist here.
Two videos from BIOCUBAFARMA and LABIOFAM were shown about the new industrial complex in Havana to produce biofertilizers, biopesticides and biostimulants for agriculture and Biorat, a unique rodenticide in the world.
The BIOCUBAFARMA documentary showed the development of Cuban biotechnology and its international presence with more than 10 companies in China, Spain, Thailand, Singapore and other Latin American countries and their flagship products.
The diplomat also mentioned the investments in Cuba of international companies such as Unilever Plc. Nestlé, Lavazza, Altadis, Sherrit International, Trafigura in the world's largest lead-producing surface mine, Melbana Energy and Antilles Gold Limited's of Australia, British American Tobacco (BAT) and some 16 international hotel chains such as Meliá, Kempinski, Barceló, Blue Diamond, MGM Muthu Hotels, Banyan Tree and Archipelago International, the Southeast Asia's largest hotel group, among others.
Some participants asked about Cuban medical equipment and whether the country produces machinery for the dairy industry and its derivatives.
He also called for participation in the XXXX International Fair of Havana (FIHAV 2024), from November 5 to 9, 2024, the most important general fair in Cuba and the Caribbean, which was attended in 2023 by more than 800 firms from 60 countries.
