Ambassador of Cuba in Mongolia meets with the Director General of the Americas, the Middle East and Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Ambassador of Cuba in Mongolia, Jorge Ferrer, paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of the Department of the Americas, the Middle East and Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Anand Amgalan. They exchanged views, in a friendly atmosphere, on both countries, Latin America and the Caribbean and the bilateral and multilateral agenda.

The Ambassador updated him on various aspects of the political, economic and social reality of Cuba, including the situation of COVID19 and the success of the three Cuban vaccines, in use in some countries in Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean and the encouraging results of the vaccine candidate for nasal use Mambisa; about the aggressive policy of the US and on the continuity and intensification by the Biden Administration of Trump's  blockade policy, contrary to electoral promises. Likewise, the Cuban diplomat reiterated the deep gratitude to Mongolia for its traditional support in the fight against the blockade.

Both parties agreed on the interest of continuing to develop bilateral cooperation in various sectors and that they are working on implementing the agreements of the IV Round of Bilateral Political Consultations between the two Foreign Ministries, held virtually on December 15. In this sense, work is being done to hold virtual meetings between some institutions of both countries, as well as on the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding between two ministries.

The Mongolian Director General for the Americas reiterated his gratitude for the scholarship program offered by Cuba since 1963, which has already graduated some 140 Mongolian professionals and received assurances from the Cuban side of its continuity.
