Ambassador of Cuba to Mongolia met with the Director General of the Americas, Middle East and Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Cuban ambassador to Mongolia, Jorge Ferrer, met at the Foreign Ministry with the Director General of the Department for the Americas, Middle East and Africa, Mr. Anand Amgalan, to discuss bilateral and multilateral issues.

They talked on Cuba's decision to increase the number of scholarships for Mongolian graduates to study medicine, taking into account the historical relations of friendship and cooperation between both countries and the initiative of the Cuban Presidency of the G77+China to promote South--South cooperation. The Mongolian diplomat highly appreciated the modest increase in scholarships that Cuba grants since 1963.

The Cuban diplomat deeply thanked Mongolia's vote, once again, in favor of the resolution adopted yesterday by the UN General Assembly, almost unanimously, on the need to end the US blockade against Cuba.

They also talked on the 28th Conference of Parties to the Convention on Climate Change (28 COP) in Dubai and the First Summit of G77 + China leaders on that issue, on December 2, in which Mongolia can make a valuable contribution as host the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) of the Convention to Combat Desertification in 2026.

The Director General referred to the active participation of his country in the Conferences of States Parties to the Conventions on the environment and climate change.
