The ambassador of Cuba to Mongolia, Jorge Ferrer, met with the Director of Multilateral Cooperation of the Foreign Ministry, Mandkhai Batsuren, to discuss issues of interest in international organizations and bilateral cooperation in them.
The Cuban ambassador reported on the upcoming celebration in Varadero, Cuba of the ITU World Youth Summit, convened by the International Telecommunication Union from March 11 to 13, 2025.
He also shared that Cuba submitted to the International Court of Justice the Declaration of Intervention in the case "Application of the Convention for the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip", initiated by South Africa.
They also talked on the US blockade against Cuba. The Cuban diplomat reiterated Cuba's deep gratitude for Ulan Bator's traditional position of support for the island in the UN and in other fórums. The Director of Multilateral Cooperation reiterated her country's well-known position on the blockade, shared by the overwhelming majority of the international community.
The ambassador explained Cuba's positions on the decision of then-President Biden to exclude Cuba from the list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism and unjustified and arbitrary reinstatement by President Trump. He also addressed Cuba's sovereign decision to release 553 people convicted of various crimes under the law in the spirit of the Ordinary Jubilee of 2025.
Both parties agreed on the importance of these exchanges and expressed satisfaction with the mutual cooperation in multilateral organizations.
