Ambassador of Cuba in Mongolia talked about bilateral cooperation in education with the Director of the Department of Foreign Relations and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Science of that country

The Cuban ambassador to Mongolia, Jorge Ferrer, discussed bilateral cooperation in education with the Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Science of that country, Mrs. Narantuya Shar.

The Cuban diplomat reported the granting by the island of three scholarships for outstanding Mongolian students to study at Cuban universities from 2023 through bilateral cooperation.

Both parties also exchanged ideas on possible ways to expand bilateral cooperation in education, as part of South-South cooperation among developing countries.

These scholarships are part of the program for university students started in 1963 under which more than 130 Mongolian professionals have graduated in Cuba. Both countries also have a bilateral agreement for the mutual recognition of university degrees.

The Director of Cooperation thanked the opportunity that Cuba offers every year for Mongolian students to study at its Universities. She acknowledged that doctors and dentists trained in our country are popular in this country for their professionalism.

The diplomat also shared information on the possibility of pursuing university studies in Cuba in the self-financed modality. He also highlighted that three Cuban universities: The University of Havana, the "Marta Abreu" Central University and the José Antonio Echeverría Technological University of Havana (CUJAE) were positioned in the 2022 edition of the QS World University Rankings, among the 1,300 most prestigious universities in the world.
