Pretoria, 25 February, 2022.- The Cuban Ambassador to South Africa, Enrique Orta González, participated in a new edition of the "Michael Harmel" political studies seminar, an event organized by the South African Communist Party (SACP) on various topics. Harmel, who was the first editor of the then illegal magazine, "The African Communist", played a key role in forging and maintaining the unique ties that developed between the ANC and the Communist Party during the 1950s. He was part of a outstanding group who dedicated themselves to the fight for a free and equal South Africa.
The program was dedicated to international solidarity, and the only topic of analysis and discussion was the United States blockade against Cuba 60 years after its entry into force. It was up to the Ambassador of Cuba to present the conference on the subject in question.
The SACP called on political organizations, trade unions and the population in general to unite to increase the visibility of the issue and the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to make its voice stronger by voting, once again, for the uprising of the blockade in its vote scheduled for April 2022.
The seminar was broadcast live on the Party's Facebook channel. It was attended by directors of the SACP, representatives of the Congress of South African Trade Unions, the Association of Graduates in Cuba, the Association of Friendship with Cuba, who expressed their unconditional support for Cuba in this cause.
