Ambassador of Cuba participates in the Fifth Irish Policy Conference of UNITE,

Dublin, May 15th, 2019. On the 13th and 14th of May, the Fifth Irish Policy Conference of UNITE was held in Dublin, to which the Ambassador of Cuba in Ireland, Hugo René Ramos Milanés, was invited.

The conference addressed from the union perspective the main issues that concern the working class in the most varied sectors and strategies to promote solutions.

UNITE is one of the main Irish trade union organizations and has maintained a fraternal relationship with the Workers' Confederation of Cuba and a position of solidarity towards the Cuban people, especially in support of the international clamor to put an end to the cruel economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government for six decades against Cuba, which has been repudiated by the international community in the General Assembly of the United Nations and many other international forums.

The Cuban diplomat informed UNITE leaders and trade unionists with whom he had the opportunity to share during the Conference that this solidarity is especially welcome and appreciated by the Cuban people in circumstances in which the Trump administration is committed to intensify this blockade and internationalize its effects through the implementation of the third title of the Helms Burton law, identified as garrotte law.
