Pretoria, August 4, 2022.- The Ambassador of Cuba in South Africa, Enrique Orta González, accompanied by press and cultural attaché, Lauren Luis Acosta, participated today in a meeting convened by the Chair of Spanish Language of the University of Pretoria. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassadors from Mexico, Panama, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador and Equatorial Guinea, as well as Chargés d' Affairs and cultural counsellors of the embassies of Colombia, Spain and Argentina.
The meeting was held with the aim of promoting the academic exchange of experiences between the Universities of above mentioned countries and the local University, in study programs of the Spanish language. The Spanish lecturers advocated for promoting the holding of cultural events, virtual conferences, granting of scholarships and exchange of students and experts in the field.
The meeting highlighted the global importance of the Spanish language, as the second most important mother language.
