The Cuban Ambassador Vilma Reyes Valdespino was received by Mr. Cuthbert Knights, the new Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Environment of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
During the fraternal meeting the parties reviewed the main aspects of the collaboration of the two countries in the field of health, such as the progress of the application of the Cuban drug Heberprot-P and the planning of the beginning of the second stage of that Program; the completion of the modern Comprehensive Diagnostic Center (CDI), built with Cuban guidance.
The Permanent Secretary expressed appreciation for the donation of the equipment of the Center, carried out by Cuba, as well as for the 21 medical specialists, that the largest island of the Greater Antilles will provide to the new institution.
Mr. Knights referred to the establishment of new schedules to finalize the various constructive actions, pending in the CDI and expressed his willingness to maintain the practice of periodic bilateral meetings to analyze the progress of the remaining stages for the completion of the CDI, the opening of which is expected by the end of this year.
Finally, Cuthbert Knights thanked the brotherhood and internationalist vocation of Cuba, while ratifying the decision of the Vincentian Government to continue strengthening and deepening the bonds of friendship and cooperation with Cuba.
