Pretoria, September 6, 2019.- The Ambassador of Cuba in South Africa, Rodolfo Benítez Verson, held a working meeting with Zola Saphetha, Secretary General of the National Education, Health and Allied Workers ’Union [NEHAWU]
Both representatives exchanged on several topics, including those related to the visit to Cuba that will soon be carried out by a large NEHAWU delegation. The visit will have as its main purpose the concretion of collaboration plans with the CTC, the Cuban unions and other institutions; as well as the exchange of experiences on the work carried out in Cuba in terms of the prevention of curable diseases.
The Cuban Ambassador thanked the Secretary General of NEHAWU for the permanent support of that Union to the people of Cuba in their fight against the blockade, including through the recent Declaration issued by NEHAWU to condemn the aggressive escalation of the United States government against Cuba .
The Secretary General of the important South African union also confirmed that he will send a representation to the 6th Regional Solidarity Meeting with Cuba, which will be held in Nigeria from September 23 to 25. South Africa will take a large delegation to this event, representative of various organizations in the country.
NEHAWU is South Africa's largest union in the public sector, with 235,000 members today.
