The diplomatic corps in Tehran were invited to visit the 9th Festival and Exhibition of Nanotechnology of Iran (Nano Iran) organized by the Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC). It is taking place from 5 to 8 October at the International Permanent Fairground. Cuba was represented by Ambassador Vladimir González Quesada.
During a ceremony headed by the Vice President of the Islamic Republic for Science and Technology, Dr. Sorena Sattari, and Deputy Foreign Minister for Europe and America Affairs, Majid Takht Ravanchi, visitors were welcomed at the exhibition area and they received a presentation on the significant progresses made by the Persian nation in nanotechnology.
Addressing the diplomatic corps, INIC Secretary General, Dr. Saeed Sarkar said that in recent decades, nanotechnology has become a new technology with a significant and growing impact on industry and society. He said his country has earned a remarkable reputation by reaching the sixth rank in nanoscience generation along with the establishment of more than 260 active companies in this field. He added that the festival is a platform to exhibit the latest achievements in various universities, research institutes and companies in nanotechnology.
Before beginning a tour by the fair and exhibition, guests were given the opportunity to express their points of views and opinions about the presentation. In his turn, the Cuban Ambassador thanked the invitation and praised the great progress Iran reached in nanotechnology. He also expressed hope that collaboration between Cuba and Iran is established in this field in the near future, for which the visit to Tehran in November of Dr. Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart, Scientific Adviser of the Council of State and Vice President of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba, could be a starting point.
