The Cuban Ambassador to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Vilma Reyes Valdespino, was received at the headquarters of the national newspaper "Vincentian", the country's longest-running newspaper.
The meeting provided a rich exchange, in which the Cuban diplomat provided up-to-date information on the recovery process in Cuba, following the damage caused by hurricane Irma, the heroic effort of the Cuban nation, the encouraging results of the reconstruction and sanitation, which will allow the Largest island of the Greater Antilles to be ready for the high tourist season, which begins next November.
The Ambassador expressed her gratitude for the solidarity received from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and referred to the solidarity that Cuba is providing to other countries in the region, affected by hurricanes Irma and Maria.
Special attention was paid by the parties to the blockade and the presentation by Cuba on November 1 of the Resolution on the Need to End the Economic, Commercial and Financial Blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.
The newspaper executives deplored the persistence of the blockade and pondered the words of the Vincentian Chancellor at the UN who called the attitude of the United States towards Cuba as an anachronistic retreat to Cold War positions without any logical justification.
