The Ambassador of Cuba visits the Victorian Institute of Foreign Affairs

Melbourne, August 1, 2023. The Cuban Ambassador to this southern country visited the Victorian Institute of Foreign Affairs. The visit included an exchange with academics, professors, and students on the Cuban reality and the challenges facing the Revolution.

During the exchange, moderated by Adrian Hearns, professor at the University of Melbourne, the Ambassador explained the transformations and achievements of the Cuban Revolution since its beginnings, in particular the training of human resources that has been put in solidarity with the neediest peoples. She also discussed the details of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade suffered by Cuba for more than six decades and its impact on the daily life of the people.

The diplomatic also referred to the potential for cooperation between Australia and Cuba, particularly in areas as health and education, especially the experience acquired in the application of the "Yo si puedo" method, with Cuban teachers in the First Nations People villages, which has been sustained and successful in the last decade.
