Ambassador highlights harmful effects of US blockade in meeting with Venezuelan counterpart in Helsinki

Helsinki, September 3, 2024.- The Ambassador of Cuba, HE Mrs. Beatriz Parra González, received in a courtesy meeting her counterpart from Venezuela, HE Mr. Ramón Gordils, on the premises of the Cuban diplomatic headquarters in this Nordic capital.

In a pleasant meeting, both diplomats highlighted the close ties of cooperation between Cuba and Venezuela, cemented on the close friendship between the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro, and the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez Frías.

The Venezuelan diplomat referred to the majority support that exists in Venezuela for President Nicolás Maduro, and the intention of the main centers of hegemonic power to ignore the will of the people to continue the construction of an inclusive and participatory social project, as recently demonstrated at the polls.

The Cuban representative expressed her solidarity and agreed with her counterpart on the extraordinary effect of the blockade measures of the United States, which has tried to subdue Cuba for more than six decades based on illegal actions, such as the case of the inclusion in the absurd list of state sponsors of terrorism, which prevents it from trading in the international market on equal terms, as it has been doing with Venezuela.
