Canberra, 29 April 2024. The Cuban Ambassador Tanieris Diéguez participated in the presentation of Australia's candidacy to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).
Members of the accredited Diplomatic Corps attended the event, hosted by Australia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Penny Wong.
The Cuban ambassador briefly exchanged with the Chancellor and took the opportunity to convey greetings on behalf of the Cuban government.
The Cuban diplomat also spoke with Natasha Stott, the Australian candidate for the CEDAW, about Cuba's achievements in favour of women's rights. She referred to Cuba's new Family Code and the laws that are applied on the island in support of women.
The Australian candidate, for her part, highlighted the work of Cuban women experts in the United Nations forums.
