Maruleng, 10 January 2026.- The President of the Republic of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, in his capacity as President of the African National Congress (ANC), reaffirmed his party's support for Cuba in his speech during the central commemoration of the organisation's 114th anniversary.
In his speech, Ramaphosa reiterated they´ll keep standing in solidarity with Cuba, in its struggle to maintain its self-determination and sovereignty.
"Colonialism and apartheid taught us to deeply appreciate self-determination, solidarity and sovereignty (reference to Palestine). It is for this reason that we also stand in solidarity with the Sahrawi, Cuban and Venezuelan peoples in their respective struggles to ensure their self-determination and sovereign integrity."
In this context, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba sent a message of congratulations to the ANC on its anniversary, evoking the historic and excellent relations between our parties and our peoples and advocating for a future of greater cooperation between both countries.
The ANC has always maintained a position of solidarity with Cuba, especially against the criminal US blockade that has affected the Cuban people for more than 60 years.
