Rustenberg, 6 January 2026.- As part of the activities marking the 114th anniversary of the African National Congress (ANC), its Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula, emphasised at a press conference that ‘the ANC has always opposed the United States' blockade against Cuba’.
He said that the Cuban people have been punished for what they believe in and what they stand for, which is why the ANC has always campaigned in solidarity with the island, so that it can maintain its sovereignty and self-determination.
These statements come in the wake of the United States' military aggression in Venezuela and the kidnapping of its legitimate president, Nicolás Maduro, with numerous South African organisations expressing their solidarity with the Venezuelan people.
