London, September 24, 2022-. This afternoon, the Association "Cubanos in UK" published on its website a communiqué addressed to our compatriots in Cuba, in support of the approval of the new Families Code, which -as it is known- will be submitted to a popular referendum tomorrow, Sunday, September 25.
Below, we reproduce the text of the aforementioned communication in its entirety:
"Communiqué to our compatriots in Cuba
This Sunday, September 25, 2022, you will wake up immersed in another glorious page of our history on that beautiful road to continue perfecting our society. This Sunday you will be defending with your vote the new Families Code, the document that will give legal character to forms of coexistence adopted in many families naturally but that before the law had no protection, and covers regulations that emerge from scientific and technological development so that the benefit of its use does not harm the vulnerable, to avoid the ethical distortion of processes that in other countries are commercialized. This is a code that protects love and affection in Cuban families that assume duties and rights in the education and care of minors and the elderly/ or people with different abilities, in the exercise of responsibility and that as a whole will give us the tools for the happiness of Cuban families.
We members of Cubanos in UK, who also had the opportunity to send our comments/amendments and/or proposals, through the communication enabled on the website of the Nation and Emigration of the MINREX, feel a deep pride in being part of a people that embodies the Martí and Fidel ideals that guide our actions for a dignified homeland for all. In none of the countries in which we live, a Code of this magnitude that concerns the essential nucleus of society, has been approved by the population, nor has it had the diffusion, nor the educational process by the best professionals of the country to ensure that the population understands the dimension of the legal document that is put into force in accordance with the progress of society. In the society in which we live, similar laws are published and updated, but it is the individual's responsibility to document himself according to the law approved by the British Parliament, and some of these laws were the result of society's demands at a time when great transformations were taking place.
For all Cubans wherever we are this Sunday, September 25, we will be standing with “#YoVotoSí” for our children and our children's children, for the future of our beautiful socialist society that will continue to improve.
To our Cuba, we will all put our Hearts in Vote Yes.
Cubanos in UK".
