The Association of Cubans living in Cyprus salutes the 70th anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks.

In Santiago de Cuba and Granma respectively occurred on July 26, 1956. This was a milestone in the history of Cuba, in which for the first time all the evils of the Cuban society of that time were denounced and for which the Cuban revolution was created. Today, 70 years after that deed, the Cuban association reaffirms its will to continue supporting the Cuban government and the Cuban revolution and denounces the impure inclusion of Cuba on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism by the United States government, as well as the intensification of the blockade that has been in force for more than 60 years and which is the main cause of the suffering of the Cuban people, particularly because it violates the rights and freedoms of a people that has chosen its own way of fighting.
We also condemn the resolution of the European Parliament in which it justifies the blockade against Cuba and tries to single out the Cuban government. The Association of Cubans living in Cyprus reaffirms its will to continue supporting the efforts of the Cuban people to keep alive the tradition, history and ideals of Martí, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, Fidel and so many other leaders who have given their blood for Cuba.
