Cubans residing in Ireland affiliated with the "Ernesto Ché Guevara Association" express our energetic condemnation of the renewed aggressiveness of the United States government against Cuba.
Over the course of this year, we have witnessed the adoption of new sanctions against Cuba and shameful maneuvers to prevent Cuba from acquiring the necessary means to face the Covid-19 pandemic.
The State Department promotes and finances through USAID a smear campaign against Cuban medical collaboration in other nations.
With absolute cynicism, the US government affirms that Cuba could obtain licenses to buy medicines in its market and face Covid-19. They hide how many weeks it would take to obtain such a license and how many bureaucratic, financial and commercial obstacles stemming from blockade laws would have to be overcome. They most simply have to lift the sanctions, but instead the State Department has just sanctioned seven new Cuban entities.
The Cuban Embassy in Washington was the object of a terrorist act that was not condemned by the US government. The US has also not reported on the course of the investigations, instead that government included Cuba in a spurious list of countries that supposedly do not collaborate in the fight against terrorism.
It is the US government who has systematically promoted hundreds of terrorist actions against Cuba and has given protection to its perpetrators in its territory.
Cuban diplomatic representations have been the object of 97 terrorist attacks, of which 25 have occurred in the United States. There is no one convicted by American justice. (http://www.acn.cu/cuba/64128-mas-de-seis-decadas-de-ataques-violentos-a-la-diplomacia-cubana-cronologia)
Cubans are proud of the efforts undertaken by the authorities at all levels and the Cuban health system and of the results achieved to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic in the adverse circumstances imposed by the intensification of the blockade and the Yankee aggressiveness. A lot of sacrifice costs our families every day.
We are grateful to the many worthy voices that in Europe and other latitudes have expressed their solidarity and evidenced their denunciation of the Trump administration's genocidal policy against Cuba.
We appeal to governments, the European Union, parliamentarians and political forces to uphold the legitimate values and principles that uphold European society.
They cannot stay on the sidelines, the blockade, its genocidal action is not a bilateral act between Cuba and the United States.
We invite you to multiply the condemnation. There is no other position worthy of the values that Europe defends.
No more blocking, no more attacks.
Cooperation and solidarity should grow.
