The Association of Cubans in the United Kingdom (Cubans in UK) expresses its firm support and solidarity with the Cuban people, who are going through a difficult situation due to the collapse of the national electro-energy system. This crisis, caused mainly by the lack of fuel, is the direct result of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba. U.S. Congressman Jim McGovern has pointed out that, under this blockade, ships transporting oil to Cuba are sanctioned, depriving the country of the foreign currency income needed to import fuel and essential spare parts.
The fuel shortage adds to the lack of other vital resources, such as food, medicines and other basic supplies necessary to guarantee the well-being of the Cuban people. More than six decades of blockade have been aimed at suffocating Cuba. On October 29 and 30, the United Nations General Assembly will consider Cuba's draft resolution against the blockade for the thirty-second time. Once again, the United States will try to justify its policy of economic warfare with a worn-out and manipulative discourse, while hypocritically presenting itself as a defender of human rights and feigning compassion for the Cuban people. However, during this crisis, it has not shown the slightest intention of providing aid.
The U.S. has a long history of military interventions, imperialist wars and crimes worldwide. At this moment, it continues to fund Israel's genocide against the Palestinian people with millions of dollars and weapons. A year of heavy bombardment has left thousands of civilian casualties, including many children. At the United Nations, once again, the majority of the world's countries will vote in favor of Cuba, except for the United States and its Zionist puppets, the State of Israel. The Association of Cubans in the United Kingdom demands an immediate end to this blockade, which only seeks to destroy Cuba. Fuerza, Cuba! Cuba will win!
