Helsinki, February 26, 2022.- Not even the snow prevented this Friday the Cuban headquarters in Lauttasaari from being filled with joy, at the meeting of thirty members of the Finland-Cuba Friendship Association with the Diplomatic Mission of the Island, in this Nordic country.
The moment led to the ambassador appointed by Cuba, Beatriz Parra González, delivering the Commemorative Seal "ICAP's 60th Anniversary" conferred by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) for its six decades of accompanying the Cuban people and the dissemination of their social reality. The Cuban diplomat stressed the importance of Cuba having friends who support it and spread its truth, while denouncing the cruel circumstances in which the country lives as a result of the United States blockade.
Previously, and after welcoming the friends of Cuba, a message from ICAP's Director for Europe, Rigoberto Zarza, was screened, who conveyed his gratitude to the Association and pointed out the main moments that during the last six decades have marked his positive and endearing relationship with Cuba.
For her part, the President of the Association, Evva Kokki, in her emotional words, thanked the distinction on behalf of all and expressed the close ties that unite both countries, while highlighting the mutual projects of solidarity that have prevailed over the throughout these years, and hope to resume in 2022.
At the ceremony, the charge d'affaires, Víctor Rodríguez Etcheverry, for his part, highlighted what the organization has done in the last two years, which, despite the pandemic conditions, did not prevent Finland's solidarity with Cuba from remaining alive. .
Cuban residents in this country and friends from the cities of Helsinki, Tampere and Turku participated in this act.
