Australia-Cuba Friendship Society approves a Statement condemning the new aggressive escalation of the government of the United States against Cuba

Canberra, April 30, 2019. The Australia-Cuba Friendship Society (ACFS) issued a statement of condemnation on Monday in rejection of the aggressive and hostile escalation of the current United States administration against Cuba.

In a document signed by the nine ACFS´s regional representations, the members of the solidarity called on the government of Australia to implement actions that contribute to the end of the policy of blockade against Cuba, as well as to take measures to protect the businesses of the entrepreneurs and Australian companies that are developing today in Cuban territory, to the possible application of the third title of the Helms-Burton Act.

Since its creation in the city of Sydney in 1979, the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society has promoted for decades numerous actions and initiatives of solidarity with the Cuban Revolution on Australian soil, especially against the blockade, the plans of subversion against Cuba and in favour of the return of the illegally occupied territory by the United States in Guantánamo.

In the same way, it has organized different fundraising activities in many cities of the country with the aim of supporting the development of social and community projects in Cuba, as well as the reconstruction work and assistance to the victims, in the aftermath of natural disasters that have affected the island.
