Canberra, July 23, 2026. The fifth edition of the “From Australia to Cuba with Love” campaign is progressing with remarkable momentum in Australia, establishing itself as one of the most visible and sustained expressions of solidarity with Cuba in the region. Since its launch in June, the initiative has mobilized dozens of participants across the country, who have carried out sporting, cultural, and community activities to support the Cuban people and contribute to a social project for a children's home in Guantánamo province.
Over the past few weeks, group walks have been held in cities such as Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra, Yass, and Brisbane; public presentations on the current situation in Cuba have taken place in Melbourne and Brisbane; bike rides have been organized; community activities have been held in urban gardens; and cultural events have brought together supporters, trade unionists, students, and members of social organizations. These actions have been accompanied by an active presence on social media, where participants have shared photos, testimonials, and messages of support for Cuba, expanding the campaign's visibility and strengthening the exchange of solidarity between our nations.
In parallel, the organizers have fostered spaces for reflection on the impact of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States government, as well as the severe energy embargo that affects daily life in Cuba and the threats of military aggression against the island. Audiovisual materials, testimonials from Cuban professionals, and recent analyses have been shared with participants, contributing to a deeper understanding of the challenges facing the country. Awareness-raising activities have also been carried out in several cities, including visits to parliamentary offices and public events aimed at promoting a more active Australian stance in defense of international law and Cuba's sovereignty.
On its fifth anniversary, “From Australia to Cuba with Love” reaffirms its commitment to building bridges between our two peoples, promoting values of social justice, international cooperation, and active solidarity. The Embassy of Cuba in Australia expresses its deep gratitude to the organizers, participants, and supporters who, with creativity and commitment, continue to promote this initiative in a complex and challenging international context for Cuba.
The campaign activities will continue until August 9, including the celebrations for July 26, a date of enormous historical significance for the Cuban nation. The Embassy will continue to support and promote these actions, confident that the solidarity shown by the Australian people will continue to grow and strengthen the bonds of friendship between our nations.
