Presbyterian congregations in the city of Baltimore, urged Senator Ben Cardin, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Upper House of the U.S. legislative body, to exclude Cuba from the List of State Sponsors of Terrorism (LEPT).
A representation of leaders and members of the Brown Memorial, Faith, Hunting Ridge and Ligth Street Presbyterian Churches, exposed through a missive and personally at the Senator's office, that they have witnessed the economic limitations, difficulties and strangulation that the effects of the US blockade, Title III of the Helms-Burton Act, the stricter regulations under the Trump Administration and the reimposition of the LEPT have imposed on their church brethren and the Cuban population.
The also members of the Friends of Cuba Network of the Presbyterian Church in the United States, called for the recognition that Cuba is not a terrorist country and does not qualify for inclusion in the LEPT.
This initiative is part of the efforts of several faith-based and religious organizations to reverse the unilateral sanctions on the Cuban economy and the elimination of the opprobrious List of State Sponsors of Terrorism.
