Belmopan, Feb 7 (Prensa Latina) The Cuba Solidarity Movement in Belize today expressed its rejection of the inclusion of the island in the U.S. government's list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.
Through its account on digital networks, the group ratified its solidarity with the Cuban people and government and described the decision of the U.S. administration as a clear intention to tighten the blockade against Cuba, intimidate foreign investors and sabotage the well-being of the nation.
Elsewhere, the text condemns what it called hostile and arrogant acts by the Trump administration, and disavowed disinformation campaigns that attempt to justify punitive measures.
The solidarity group called on the international community to denounce the offensive against Cuba, and demanded the immediate lifting of this abusive policy, while reaffirming its conviction that the Cuban people and their government will overcome the difficulties that emanate from these measures in the defense of their dignity, sovereignty and the achievements of the Revolution.
As part of the Caribbean Community, Belize has for many years maintained a clear position of condemnation of the blockade both from government institutions and from the broad solidarity movement composed of students, artists, health workers and a wide spectrum of the local political sector.
