By Belize Live News: Today, Belize made history by hosting the 12th Annual North American, Central American and Caribbean Directors of Civil Aviation Meeting (NACC/DCA/12). This significant event brought together nearly 100 aviation leaders from across the region to collaborate on enhancing aviation security and facilitation. The meeting aligns with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) focus on facilitation for the year.
The significance of this event cannot be overstated for Belize, a country where aviation is the linchpin of its thriving tourism sector. Tourism accounts for 55% of Belize’s GDP, and over half of all tourists arrive by air. This highlights the critical importance of maintaining a safe, secure, and efficient airspace.
The NACC/DCA/12 meeting underscores Belize’s dedication to aviation excellence and its increasing prominence in regional aviation affairs. The exchange of knowledge and best practices during this gathering is poised to strengthen aviation security and facilitation across Belize and the broader region.
The delegation of Cuba at this event is headed by the president of Cuba's Civil Aeronautics Institute, Armando Daniel López, and is accompanied by Orlando Nevot González, director of Aeronautics if the Institute.
