Dublin, September, 2018. Taking into consideration the immense possibilities of the Cuban biopharmaceutical industry, for the export and the necessity of its insertion in global chains, as well as the alliances for the co-development of products and foreign investment, an exchange was held with Matt Moran, Director of Biopharmachem Ireland (Ibec), an Irish association of companies in the biotechnology sector that brings together national and multinational companies. The Cuban delegation had the opportunity to receive detailed information on the characteristics of this important sector in Ireland and its notable weight in exports. Information was also received on the different projects carried out by the agency to enhance the productive and export capacities of local companies, as well as to share results in the investigations.
The Cuban part headed by Yamila Fernandez del Busto, general director of Economy of the MINCEX, offered a general characterization on the sector of the Biotechnology and the production of medicines in Cuba and its potentialities, for which it made delivery to the counterpart of the portfolio of business of BioCubaFarma. For his part, Ambassador Hugo Rene Ramos Milanes, who accompanied them, explained how Cuba has managed to articulate over the past decades a network of prestigious research and production centers for health, which they can not only be proud of satisfy national requirements in the sector, but have also managed to introduce high-tech and proven products that are even marketed in countries with a high level of development.
