Ekurhuleni, 20 July 2023 - The application of unilateral sanctions and coercive measures against Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Zimbabwe, Iran and Syria was condemned during the debates held at the BRICS Political Parties Plus Dialogue, celebrated in South Africa from 18-20 July.
The different working commissions discussed the importance of supporting countries suffering from these types of illegal sanctions that affect the development of their economies and their peoples.
At the closing remarks of the event, the Secretary General of the African National Congress (ANC), Fikile Mbalula, condemned the application of these unjust measures against Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua and other countries, reaffirming his support in the fight against these sanctions.
Participants also urged the US government to remove Cuba from the arbitrary List of Sponsors of Terrorism.
