The Book “Tricontinental, Havana 1966” launched in South Africa

Johannesburg, March 5, 2026.—Cuba’s ambassador to South Africa, Fakri Rodríguez Pinelo, accompanied by other officials from the diplomatic mission, participated in the launch of the book “Tricontinental, Havana 1966,” which took place at The Forge, in the heart of the South African city.

During the presentation, the love and admiration of members of the Progressive International, such as Manolo de los Santos and Vijay Prashad, for Cuba, Fidel, and the Revolution was evident, as was that of the South African comrades and friends who attended the event.

The incredible spirit of resilience of the Cuban people was recognized—a people who have endured the onslaught of U.S. imperialism for more than six decades without yielding, simply for defending their sovereign right to exist. Furthermore, Cuba’s solidarity with the world was highlighted, particularly the dispatch of professionals from various fields to numerous countries to contribute to their development.

The General Secretary of the South African Communist Party, Solly Mapaila, as well as the former Minister of Intelligence and great friend of Cuba, Ronnie Kasrils, were also present, reaffirming their unwavering solidarity with the people of the island.
