A donation of five thousand pounds of powdered milk travels today to Cuba bound for pediatric hospitals in the provinces of Villa Clara, Cienfuegos and Sancti Spíritus, informed activist Carlos Lazo.
The coordinator of the Bridges of Love Movement said that during three days they will distribute the cargo, which also includes some 100,000 tablets of painkillers, bread-making machines for children's homes in the aforementioned provinces and materials needed for a home for the elderly in Cienfuegos, among other supplies.
Along with Lazo are other members of Puentes de Amor, as well as Medea Benjamin, co-founder of the U.S. peace organization Code Pink, part of this solidarity project.
We carry above all love," said Benjamin, a tireless activist for human rights, peace and support for Cuba.
Through a direct link from the plane that will take them to the island, the Cuban professor residing in Seattle thanked all those who contributed to make this shipment a reality, mentioning the link Leche pa'Cuba (Milk for Cuba).
"Long live the Bridges of Love!", "Down with the blockade of Cuba!", "We are going to Cuba, candela", "Tremenda tropa!", "Although I am not on that plane, my heart is there with you, long live the Cuban family, long live the Bridges of Love", were some of the various messages from those who connected to the channel on Thursday morning.
The activist confirmed that next Sunday, as happens on the last weekend of every month, the Caravan against the Blockade will take place, radiating from Miami to cities in the United States and other parts of the world.
Within the United States, the wave of support for the lifting of the unilateral economic, commercial and financial siege imposed by the White House more than six decades ago, either with Democratic or Republican occupants, is growing.
