Canberra, 26 June 2024. The president of the Canberra branch of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society (ACFS), Rob Parnell and the Secretary of the Southern Border NSW-Victoria branch, Peter Hood, made a bike ride from the Cuban embassy in Canberra to the Australian Federal Parliament headquarters.
The activity, as part of the "From Australia to Cuba with Love" campaign, also aimed to deliver, to Parliament, a letter of support for Cuba against the U.S. blockade and demand the removal of Cuba from the List of State Sponsors of Terrorism. In addition, the letter requests the Australian Parliament to support the motion presented in February 2024 by the co-chair of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Cuba, in rejection of the blockade imposed by the government of the United States on Cuba.
