Caravans to ask the U.S. to end the blockade of Cuba will take place on May 1

The traditional world caravans to demand the United States to lift the blockade against Cuba will take place next May 1, informed today the leader of the Bridges of Love movement, Carlos Lazo.

In exclusive statements to Prensa Latina, the activist urged all friends of the island who participate in the activities carried out every last Sunday of every month to demand the end of Washington's punitive policy, to do so on this occasion as part of the activities to be held for the commemoration of International Workers' Day.

"We invite all the people who want an end to this criminal blockade against the people of Cuba to manifest it in the activities on the occasion of May 1st, and to take out their signs against this siege, for the Cuban family and for the end of all punitive measures," he requested.

He added that the members of the Miami caravan will also participate in the parades that will be held in that city, organized by different associations of emigrants and unions.

The Bridges of Love movement coordinates every last Sunday of the month demonstrations advocating the end of the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed for more than 60 years by successive U.S. administrations against the largest of the Antilles.

They also demand the elimination of Cuba from the list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism and the lifting of the rest of the coercive measures that prevent travel to the island and hinder its economic transactions.

The celebration of these events takes place constantly in the city of Miami, despite the numerous acts of harassment and threats suffered by activists from anti-Cuban groups that seek to prevent a policy of rapprochement.

We are not going to give up, they will not succeed in demobilizing us, shouted the members of the caravan held in that city in the southern state of Florida in response to the provocations to which they were victims during the most recent of their demonstrations, held on March 26. They also considered that the increase in aggressions reveals the desperation felt by the so-called "haters", in view of the growth of a movement that advocates for justice.

In addition to those taking place in Miami, other activities in solidarity with Cuba are organized on a regular basis in several US cities such as Seattle and New York, as well as in Vancouver, Quebec and Ottawa (Canada), and also in other regions of Latin America.
