The Caribbean Council's Annual Reception was held on 22 May at the British Parliament, an event that brought together representatives of the British business sector, government agencies and diplomats accredited to the United Kingdom. Its premise was to strengthen economic and commercial ties with the Caribbean region.
The event was honoured by the presence of the Right Honourable Lord Bruce de Bennachie, President of the Caribbean Council and Mrs. Jessica Morden, Member of the British Parliament and UK Trade Envoy for Central America. The Minister of Education of the Dominican Republic, Mr. Luis Miguel De Camps, guest of honour at this edition, was also present. This reaffirms the regional and cooperative nature of the meeting.
Representing the Cuban Embassy in the United Kingdom were Ambassador Ismara Vargas, Tourism Counsellor Mayté Suárez and First Secretary for Economic and Commercial Affairs, Soima Méndez.
During the meeting, the Cuban officials held exchanges with members of the Cuba Initiative and relevant institutions such as Canning House and the Department of Business and Trade of the United Kingdom. These contacts contribute to identifying new opportunities for cooperation in strategic sectors of mutual interest.
Cuba's participation in this type of events ratifies the country's commitment to the development of diplomatic relations with all regional and international actors, especially those with which there is ample potential for trade, investment and cooperation.
