Celebration of the 72nd Anniversary of July 26th at the Cuban Embassy in Canberra

Canberra, 26 July 2025 - The Cuban Embassy in Australia commemorated the 72nd anniversary of the National Rebellion Day with an activity at its headquarters in Canberra, in honor of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks in 1953.

The ambassador Tanieris Diéguez presided over the event and highlighted the significance of this date as a symbol of the struggle for sovereignty, social justice and self-determination of the Cuban people. In his remarks, she underscored Cuba's achievements despite the challenges imposed by the U.S. economic blockade. She also expressed Cuba's commitment to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation with Australia, based on mutual respect and solidarity.

The activity was attended by members of the Australian-Cuban Friendship Society (ACFS), who spoke in favor of Cuba and against the U.S. blockade.

The ambassador thanked all those present for their support and reaffirmed her commitment to promote dialogue and bilateral cooperation in a spirit of brotherhood between the peoples of Cuba and Australia.
