Celebrations in Cuba for “Saint Patrick”, National Day of Ireland.
Dublin, March 16, 2024. In Havana, the Center for the Interpretation of Cuba-Europe cultural relations (Palacio del Segundo Cabo) joined the celebration of Saint Patrick's Day, patron saint of Ireland. The celebration, which takes place every March 17 in various cities around the world, is characterized by the predominance of the colour green, shamrocks, costumes, music and dance.
In tribute to Irish culture and its link with Cuba, the program of activities for the occasion included a children's workshop under the title "Discovering the Green Erin and Saint Patrick's Day" with the participation of students from the "Camilo Cienfuegos" Primary School”. In it, the children learned elements of the culture and history of Ireland, the origin of its celebrations and the links between the Cuban and Irish cultures.
Likewise, on the morning of March 15, in the area of the Children's Workshop of the Palacio del Segundo Cabo, on Madera Street, the Children's Workshop “Discovering Green Erin” was held, whose participants were protagonists of games, learning sessions about Ireland and traditional dances from the sister country, such as “Riverdance”. For the occasion, clothing items dominated by the colour green and allegorical elements of the festivity, of the same colour, were used.
From March 13 to 17, the facades of the "Palacio del Segundo Cabo" will remain illuminated with green.
“La Calle de Madera” is precisely the stretch that occupies the front of the majestic Palace of the Captains General, one of the busiest areas for tourism, the development of cultural and festive activities.
It is kind invited to enjoy the interpretation of “Riverdance” by Cuban children through the link below.
