Pretoria, April 22, 2021.- Representatives of the Department of Water and Sanitation of the Republic of South Africa (DWS) and the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources of the Republic of Cuba (INRH) met virtually today, as part of the formal ceremony to welcome the Cuban Experts to the South African Water sector.
The meeting was Co-chaired by Hon. Lindiwe Sisulu, Minister of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation of South Africa and Cde. Antonio Rodríguez Rodríguez, President of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources of Cuba.
High authorities of both institutions and a representation of the Embassies of Cuba in South Africa and of this country in the Island also participated.
The South African minister praised the Cuban engineers for their expertise, adding that they will complement existing skills in the country: "The people of Cuba have an amazing discipline, people of Cuba have helped us in many spheres, in housing in, health and in many areas where we have successes and we have asked them to come because they have particular speciality in areas that we do not have specialty.”
During his speech, the president of Hydraulic Resources of Cuba made an overview of the development of the sector in Cuba, thanked the opportunity to share Cuban experiences with South Africa and ratified the willingness to maintain and expand cooperation in this cooperation. “At the very center of the cooperation between Cuba and South Africa in the field of water and sanitation, there will always be capacity building, through the training of local personnel. The transfer of experiences, knowledge and skills by Cuban specialists to their South African colleagues will be guaranteed.”
