Canberra, 10 July 2024. The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Cuban Embassy in Australia, Ivianes Gonzalez, participated in the launch of NAIDOC Week 2024 held on 8 July at the headquarters of the Australian Foreign Ministry and in the reception hosted by the Foreign Ministry on 10 July. Both activities were well attended by the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Canberra.
NAIDOC Week is an Australian observance that lasts from the first Sunday in July until the following Sunday. The acronym NAIDOC stands for National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee.
NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia. The week is observed not only by Indigenous Australian communities but also by government agencies, schools, local councils, and workplaces.
