Communist Party of Finland condemns US decision to include Cuba on the list of state sponsors of terrorism

Helsinki, January 13.- The Communist Party of Finland and its leader JP (Juha-Pekka) Väisänen condemned, through a statement published on the Party's website, the decision taken by the outgoing United States government to include Cuba again in the list of state sponsors of terrorism.

According to Väisänen, the Trump administration is trying to obstruct possible plans to reestablish friendlier relations with Havana from the future Joe Biden administration. The administration of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, has one week left to govern and formulate policies. The Secretary of State of the United States, Michael Pompeo, on Monday, the 11th, named Cuba a sponsor of terrorism and added Cuba to the list of terrorist states against which the United States has traditionally imposed economic sanctions.

"The actions of the Secretary of State of the United States, Michael Pompeo, to link Cuba with the so-called list of terrorist states are pure madness and reflect the despair of Trump's political power",  said the party leader. Likewise, Väisänen added: "Cuba is not a terrorist state. On the contrary, Cuba is a victim of US state terrorism. Cubans have suffered from terrorism and terrorist attacks for decades. 3,478 Cubans have died in terrorist attacks and 2,099 Cubans have been injured in testimonies in which the United States has been involved".
