Helsinki, September 9th.- The president of the Finnish Communist Party (SKP), Juha-Pekka Vaisanen received this morning the Chargé D'Affaires a.i of Cuba, Victor M. Rodríguez Etcheverry.
During the meeting, the party leader highlighted the friendship between the communist militants of both countries and discussed the new projects that are coming to continue strengthening the traditional historical ties that unite them. Vaisanen expressed being aware of the current situation of COVID 19 on the island and praised the permanent solidarity of Cuba, by sending internationalists doctors to a lot of countries in the world to fight the virus, while trying to develop a Cuban national vaccine, in a context of tightening of the US Blockade against the country.
The diplomat from the Greatest of the Antilles sent a warm greeting from the Communist Party of Cuba to the Finnish comrades and thanked the usual support received by the SKP in the fight against the illegal Economic, Commercial and Financial Blockade imposed by the United States against the Island for almost 6 decades. Rodríguez Etcheverry stressed that a basic principle of revolutionary foreign policy is its solidarity and internationalist vocation, forged under the example of Fidel, Raúl and the historical generation. Hence, our conviction will always be to reach out to all those in need, especially in this scenario of a global pandemic.
Also present at the exchange was, on the Finnish side, the Party Secretary General Tiina Sandberg.
